Machu Picchu: King & Team Tour the Urabamba Valley

This Is Mike, the RMI Machu Picchu group has all arrived with luggage in tow. We had a nice dinner on the main square in Cusco last night after a team meeting and briefing about the Salkantay Trek. Today we went on a tour of the Urabamba Valley to visit the Pisac Market and the amazing stone work at Ollantaytambo. The weather has been great, the team is adjusting to the altitude and excited about beginning the trek tomorrow morning. We will check in from our camp tomorrow evening. RMI Guide Mike King

Remember…. it is the trip that is most important…not the destination…per “Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: an inquiry into values” by Robert M. Pirsig”...from a ‘60s mama…...love and prayers for all…come home safely.

Glad you’re all safe. Even though you weren’t able to reach the summit, I hope the journey was an adventure!

RMI Guides Tyler Jones and Mike King led their Four Day Summit Climb August 21 - 24 to the summit of Mt. Rainier this morning. The cloud deck remains below Camp Muir so the team was able to enjoy clear skies during their climb and from the summit crater before starting their descent. Congratulations to today's Summit Climb teams! Thanks to all the guides for their hard work over the last few days to re-establish a route above the top of Disappointment Cleaver!

Mt. Baker: ALA Climb for Clean Air Reaches the Summit!

The American Lung Association's Climb for Clean Air team reached the summit of Mt. Baker today with 100% success! RMI Guide Steve Gately reported a great climb and good route conditions. The views were hard to come by to the smoke lingering over Western Washington, but the team had a great time! Congratulations to today's team!

This was an amazing climb for me and much of it due to the patient, clear instruction, leadership and encouragement from our guides.  They were professional in their teaching and serious about our safety, while maintainig a sense of levity that made the experience unforgettable. And I learned a ton!

Mt. Rainier: Emmons Seminar To the Top

The Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons, led by Mike King, is back at camp after their summit day. The team walked into a cloud cap as they began their ascent. Winds sustained at 40 mph with gusts of 50 mph. Now back at Camp Schurman, the winds are dying down and the cap is slowly diminishing. Other than that, not a cloud in the sky. Tomorrow they will descend from Camp Schurman and drive back to Ashford where they will celebrate their week on Mt. Rainier!
