Montana Ice - Intermediate Ice
Montana's Hyalite Canyon is one of the premier ice climbing destinations in the United States, with countless world-class ice cliffs.
RMI has partnered with Montana Alpine Guides to offer Intermediate Ice Climbing courses and private guiding in Hyalite Canyon. These are the perfect programs to broaden general mountaineering skills and prepare for technical climbing on the likes of Denali, Chopicalqui, and the North Ridge of Mt. Baker.
INTERMEDIATE ICE CLIMBING
This two-day course begins with a brief review of the basics before teaching more advanced techniques. Efficiency will be a focal point of our course to ensure participants can make the most of our time in this great training ground. This course develops a climber's fundamentals, introduces advanced techniques and lead climbing, and will include mixed climbing if conditions allow. Our Intermediate Ice Climbing course takes place in Hyalite Canyon, just outside of Bozeman, Montana. Montana Alpine Guides are some of the most experienced ice guides in the Rockies, and their staff includes RMI Guides Adam Knoff and Matias Francis.

- Hyalite Canyon's world-class ice cliffs are only a 15-minute walk from the parking lot, meaning that we maximize time climbing and minimize the approach.

Ice climbing technique is our focal point, and you will be learning from the pros before putting the climbing lessons into action. Each day will be filled with continual feedback, instruction, and as much climbing as possible.
