The Four Day Climb June 17 - 20 led by RMI Guides Leif Bergstrom, Mitch Valaitis and Arianna Drechsler enjoyed nice weather over the course of their climb but unstable snow conditions on the upper mountain prevented the team from ascending above Ingraham Flats. The team enjoyed some additional training and spent the morning at Ingraham Flats. They plan to descend from Camp Muir at 10 am en route to Paradise.

The Four Day Climb June 17 - 20 led by RMI Guides Win Whittaker, Henry Coppolillo and Claire Pennell consists of climbers supporting the American Lung Association of Washington and the Climb for Clean Air. The team enjoyed beautiful weather for all of their days spent on the mountain. Snow conditions and potential avalanche danger prevented the group from making a summit attempt. They enjoyed the sunrise from Ingraham Flats this morning along with some additional training. The team is now back at Camp Muir and plan to start their descent to Paradise around 10 am. Their program will conclude this afternoon in Ashford with a celebratory team dinner.
Nice work team!

The Five Day Climb June 15 - 19 ascend to Camp Muir on Day 3 after a day and a half training and preparing. They spent Day 4 of their program practicing cramponing up Muir peak and fixed line travel, and went over knots and hitches. RMI Guide Casey Grom and two other guides went up high doing some route work and shoveling the new snow from Disappointment Cleaver. Today the team went to Ingraham Flats and watched the sunrise over Muir peak and western Washington. Unfortunately unstable snow conditions from Monday's storm prevented from safely climbing any higher. The team will descend to Paradise later this morning and conclude their program later this afternoon at Rainier BaseCamp.

The Five Day Climb reached Camp Muir after what we deemed “the spiciest snowfield ascent ever”. We worked together in high winds and low visibility to stay warm and keep climbing. After a night of higher winds, colder temperatures and more snow, we opted to do some training at Camp Muir. We started the morning with some avalanche basics culminating in digging pits to assess snow instability. The results weren’t promising so as a team we made the safe, but hard, choice not to ascend any higher. The sun came out and we spent the day learning snow anchors, crevasse rescue and taking in the beautiful views from Camp Muir.
We’ll begin our descent to Paradise this morning and conclude our program this afternoon. All in all, this team unified in tough conditions to have an incredible climbing experience.

Amazing Experience! Jess, Andy and all the Guides were phenomenal as they kept us safe and maintained High Spirits and PMA throughout a “Ghost Pepper Spicy” day.. Can’t wait to share pics and stay connected! Couldn’t have picked a better group of people for a truly Epic Adventure! Thank you RMI !

“The summit is what drives us, but the climb itself is what matters.”
Couldn’t have asked for a better team to be with on a trip, summit or no summit. Hootah!!!

After several days of training and climbing, the Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons team reached the summit of Mt. Rainier yesterday via the Emmons Glacier. The team reported high winds overnight and delayed their departure from Camp Schurman. Winds abated and they had a nice climb to the summit. The team returned to Camp Schurman for their final night on the mountain. This morning they will break camp, descend to the trail head and return to Ashford.
Congratulations to the team!

The Four Day Climb June 10 - 13 led by RMI Guides Brent Okita and Mike Haugen has reached the summit of Mt. Rainier. The teams were walking into the crater rim at 7 am. They plan to spend an hour in the crater and then will begin their descent to Camp Muir. The teams will continue down to Paradise later today and return to Rainier BaseCamp to conclude their adventure.
Congratulations climbers!
Congratulations to the team!! Its so exciting to see summits happening with more frequency! As a fellow team member (in a few weeks), I’d love to know what this year’s route looks like. Would anyone be willing to share your Garmin/GPS tracks? Thank you!

Message for Mitch Valaitis,
Did Joe and his guide make the summit on 6/26/24, with the high winds, clouds, and cold temperatures? I would be very interested to hear.
