Another beautiful day on
Mt. Rainier and another summit! Congratulations to the Four Day Summit Climb! The team spent some time marveling in the views and great weather before starting their descent at 7:45 a.m.
RMI Guide Mike Haugen’s
Expedition Skills Seminar - Kautz checked in from their camp at 13,000’, atop the Wapowty Cleaver. They are enjoying a perfect day of Crevasse Rescue Training and hanging out in the sunshine. Mike received the “best weather report” and they are planning on heading for Columbia Crest early in the morning and hope to meet the RMI Four & Five Day Summit Climb teams on top of Mt. Rainier.
RMI Guide Tyler Reid and the
Expeditions Skills Seminar - Emmons are beginning four days on the northside of Mt. Rainier where they will gain valuable mountaineering skills and try for the summit later in the week. They will make their first camp tonight at 7,500' on the Inter Glacier.
In the North Cascades, RMI Guide Mike Walter and team reached the summit of Forbidden Peak via the West Ridge. They described a beautiful and warm day. The team descended to their camp in Boston Basin and will complete the walk out to the trail head tomorrow morning.

The Four Day Summit Climb teams led by
RMI Guides Tyler Reid and
Eric Frank reached 12,600' before turning around due to avalanche hazard. It is a beautiful day on the mountain with light winds and clear skies. The cold temperatures from overnight are dimenishing with the sunshine. The team will be making their way back to Camp Muir after the guides spend some time working on the route. RMI Guide Tyler Reid said it was a difficult decision to turn the climb on such a beautiful day, however, conditions on the mountain were not safe enough for them to continue.
The
Expedition Skills Seminar - Emmons led by
RMI Guide Seth Waterfall reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today! The team enjoyed a beautiful day on the mountain. They will return to Camp Schurman for their final night on the mountain. They may do some additional training tomorrow morning before returning to the trail head.

RMI Guides Brent Okita, Tyler Reid and our Four Day Summit Climb team reached the top of Mt. Rainier today. The teams climbed in the clouds and have started there descent back to Camp Muir.

The
Four Day Summit Climb teams led by
RMI Guides Tyler Reid and
Shaun Sears left Camp Muir with an alpine start this morning but were forced to turn around at 10,600' due to high avalanche danger.
The weather at Camp Muir was clear with high clouds above. There was also a cloud deck below at around 6,000'. The teams began their descent from Camp Muir just before 9 a.m. We look forward to seeing them in Ashford this afternoon.
RMI Guide Andres Marin radioed from Camp Muir this morning. The
Four Day Summit Climb teams were tucked safely in the bunks at Camp Muir after a windy night. The cold temperatures, new snow and wind prevented the groups from making a summit attempt this morning. At 8:30 a.m. they began their descent from Camp Muir to Paradise. They will return to Ashford in the early afternoon.

The Four Day Summit Climb May 25 - 28, 2012, led by RMI Guides
Tyler Reid and
Kel Rossiter reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today. The teams reported moderate westerly winds and cold temperatures. The skies were clear above with a cloud deck below around 10,000'. The teams began their descent at 9:31 a.m. from the crater rim en route to Camp Muir. They will continue to Paradise this afternoon.

Expedition Skills Seminar: May 20 - 25, 2012
The Expedition Skills Seminar - Muir led by RMI Guides J.J. Justman and Jake Beren have enjoyed several days of training at Camp Muir. The team members received instruction on crevasse rescue, avalanche forecasting, building snow anchors and much more. Weather and snow conditions prevented the team from making a summit attempt. They began their descent from Camp Muir at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.
Liberty Ridge Climb: May 20 - 25, 2012
The
Liberty Ridge Climb led by RMI Guides Tyler Reid and Elias de Andres Martos began at the White River Trailhead on Tuesday, May 22. Conditions on the mountain prevented them from attempting the Liberty Ridge climb. They did make a summit attempt via the Little Tahoma route but were turned by deteriorating weather. The team will return to Ashford this afternoon.

RMI Guide Tyler Reid reached the summit of Mt. Rainier today. The team reported moderate winds with clear skies above and a cloud deck below at around 7,000'. The team will return to Camp Muir and continue their descent this afternoon. We look forward to seeing them at Rainier BaseCamp this afternoon.
