Mt. McKinley: Nugent & Team Summit!

Hey, it is Billy here just checking in after a safe and successful summit bid. We got up, kind of stalled a little bit because it was a cold morning. We left around 10 pm, it took us about 12 1/2 hours round trip. We were super psyched. So we're back in camp, and like I said before everyone is safe and sound. Now we're just hoping for good weather to beat feet for the airport. That's all I have for now. We are going to eat dinner and get some sleep.

incredible Kevin “Cayman”....Congratulations to one and all, Mountains seem to answer an increasing imaginative need In us. More and more people are discovering a desire for them, and a powerful soul in them. At bottom, mountains, like all wildernesses, challenge our complacent conviction - so easy to lapse into - that the world has been made for humans by humans. Most of us exist for most of the time in worlds which are humanly arranged and controlled. We forget that there are environments which do not respond to the flick of a switch or the touch of a screen,, and which have their own rhythms and orders of existence. I suspect Mountains correct this. They are greater forces than we can possibly invoke, and by confronting us with greater spans of time than we can possibly envision, mountains eliminate our excessive trust in the man-made. They pose profound questions about our durability and they induce, I suppose, a modesty in us.(Robert)
It’s going to be a heck of a bash when you’re back in the little ole town of Falmouth.

“You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place ? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.” — René Daumal.
