Aconcagua: Beren & Team Descend to Plaza Argentina

Waking once the sun began to warm the tents was a welcome treat at 19,600 feet. Having that last cup of coffee in the rarified air of high camp before packing up and starting the beautiful and lengthy descent really let the last few weeks settle in. We have climbed on the highest mountain outside of Asia and now turn the skiff towards home. It is this point of the trip where we get to see how far out we've gone because there is no more out to go, just back. Retracing our steps back home will take a few days and is a wonderful way to let this adventure sink in. See you all soon!

Great job, to the team and to my friend Monica. I can’t begin to understand how amazing that accomplishment must feel. Have a great trek down the mountain and stay safe! Ivory

This is sooo awesome all of you! I’d really love to hear how the descent is compared to the ascent. Like, what kinds of conversations are you having NOW, that are different than what you had a week ago? Loving the journey… keep us posted!
Love to all, Karen

Bill, I can’t wait to see you again after all this time. Has it “sunk in” yet for you about what you have accomplished? We still have our Christmas coming and I am firming up details for your “Triumphant Homecoming Party.”

We were thinking of you all and your great accomplishment as my son and I drove south from Vancouver, BC today during one of the most spectacular Pacific Northwest winter sunsets lighting up Mt. Baker in the crystal clear late afternoon. Although our “little” Baker pales in comparison to Aconcagua we felt the connection. Congratulations and enjoy the journey home Bill!
