Art Rausch, Mountain Guide, RMI Expeditions

Arthur Rausch began guiding on Mount Rainier in 1989. Arts interest in mountaineering grew with the Boy Scouts and while participating and working in an outdoor education program in the German Alps during high school. Art guided with RMI full time until 2001 and spent numerous winters guiding with RMIs winter programs on Mount Rainier. From 1994 to 2003, Art was a full-time ski patroller with Crystal Mountain Ski Resort on the north side of Mount Rainier. In 2001, Art began guiding part-time so he could pursue a full-time firefighting career with Lakewood Fire Department in Western Washington. Art has enjoyed guiding on numerous expeditions to the world's highest places in Mexico, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina, Alaska and North America and to the Himalayas. As an active Army Reservist of 18 years, Art was mobilized in 2004 for 12 months spending most of that time in the Persian Gulf state of Qatar.
