The Kautz route ascends a classic line on the south side of Mt. Rainier and is a great adventure for climbers ready for a more technical climb. This is an advanced level program for climbers in great physical condition with knowledge of mountaineering techniques and previous climbing experience. If you have climbed Mt. Rainier before and are looking for another mountaineering adventure on this northwest volcano this is the perfect climb. The five days consist of a Pre-Trip Preparation and Training day and four days of expedition style climbing, camping and load carrying.

Participant Requirements:

Previous climbing experience is required for this program. In order to participate, each team member needs to submit a short climbing resume showing, at a minimum the following skills:.

• Familiar with crampon use, team rope travel skills, and ice axe arrest techniques.
• A minimum of one previous glacier climb.
