Introduction

The incredible views of the Himalayas are undeniably the stuff of legends. The world’s highest mountains hold a dynamic mix of geography, cultures, and religions; a truly amazing and beautiful destination. The diverse people and extremely rich traditions which color this region leave lasting impressions on all of us who visit.

For your trek or climb in the Himalayas, the experience of your guide matters. Extending the reach of America’s most-trusted guide service to the world’s 8,000 meter peaks was a natural step for us. Since Jim Whittaker’s first American ascent of Mt. Everest in 1963, RMI and the Whittakers have consistently pioneered big mountain adventure. Lou Whittaker led the first American ascent from Tibet, on the north side. Ed Viesturs, the first American to summit all 14 peaks over 8,000 meters, is one of 36 RMI guides to have stood on the summit of Everest during the company’s 37 year history. Dave Hahn has reached that summit an astounding nine times.
