Cotopaxi (19,348 ft.)

The Cotopaxi Express is a nine day (door to door) adventure that offers climbers a chance to reach the summit of 19,348’ Cotopaxi in Ecuador’s “Avenue of the Volcanoes.” Your acclimatization begins upon arrival in Quito (9,350’). A quick visit to the markets near Otovalo, and a series of acclimatization hikes on the lower slopes of Cotopaxi provide the necessary acclimatization to go for the summit! We drive to the road’s end and a short hike brings us to our hut at high camp. Our summit day on Cotopaxi is long yet rewarding as we negotiate crevasses and top out on one of the jewels of the Western Cordillera. After our descent, we drive into Quito for a celebration dinner and catch our flights home the following morning.
